Our Story

Early Stages

Picture of Early Stages

Lilly grew up in Sweet Home, Oregon (yes, that is a real town) for the majority of her life, but fell in love with Florida after a Disney College Program in 2018. Her parents, Jeff and Jodi Parker, have always been supportive of her pursuits. Even though Lilly loved living close to her parents, brother Wesley, and sisters Ella and Grace, it felt right to take the leap. In spring of 2022 Lilly started a new job with Disney.

Davi grew up in São Paulo, Brazil until moving to Florida in 2013, at the age of 13. He came to the U.S. with his parents, Valdemir and Celia Arnese, his brother Bruno, and his sister Gabriela.

Also looking for a change, Davi decided to give working at Disney a try. He started working at Disney roughly one year before Lilly moved to Florida.

Lilly and Davi met while working at Oga’s Cantina in Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Theme Park. At the beginning they didn't talk too often, until one night after closing the Cantina, Davi asked Lilly if she wanted to walk with him through the empty park together (instead of the usual route).

Upon meeting Lilly for the first time and learning about her love of animals and her family, Davi instantly developed a crush. Lilly had also developed a crush on Davi, but it wasn't until October, when they sat through a class to become Disney trainers, that she realized just how much she liked him.

After their class the two began finding any excuse they could to see each other outside of work. On November 16th Davi asked Lilly to be his plus one to the Fantasmic cast preview. He claimed it would be a group experience, however they both conveniently avoided their friends the majority of the night.

As time went on, the two became closer friends and started to realize they had shared interests and beliefs. They love and cherish their families, the Lord, and they both love talking about their passion for animals and sharing details about their board game collections (Lilly actually has said that the moment she found out Davi owns her dream board game, Stardew Valley, was the moment she fell in love with him).

Feeling butterflies

For the months following, both Lilly and Davi were too nervous to ask the other to hangout, and their interactions went back to being only during their shifts. After a trip to Epcot with some friends, Lilly tried being more direct and asked Davi to a park day just the two of them. They spent the day at Hollywood Studios, neither one asking if it was considered an official date (but both wanting it to be one).

However, they STILL remained too shy to confess their feelings towards each other. But that started to change when they both ended up in Magic Kingdom to watch the nightly fireworks, in separate groups.

Lilly glanced across the sea of thousands of people, and there, perfectly framed between all the crowds, was Davi. The chances of her finding his face so easily in such a large crowd, was so extremely slim. She still feels that this was the moment God said “he's the one”, because after that all she could think about was telling Davi how she felt.

After two weeks of feeling terrified and sick to her stomach, Lilly finally told Davi about her months-long crush on him. To her surprise, he returned the feelings tenfold, and they began talking more seriously.

Officially together

A month and a half later, after praying throughout a church weekend men’s retreat, Davi officially asked Lilly to be his girlfriend on May 30th of 2023. In June Lilly met Davi’s parents and siblings, and Davi flew to Oregon with Lilly to meet her parents and family.

Lilly started attending illuminate church, where Davi is a Tech Director, and later that fall she also started to serve by helping in the Elementary classroom. Throughout fall and winter Lilly met more of Davi’s extended family, and they took more trips back to Oregon to spend time with Lilly’s family.

In November, Lilly’s parents flew to Florida and officially met Davi’s parents. Both families instantly loved each other and had a blast sharing stories, especially embarrassing ones of Lilly and Davi.

Free time was often spent going to the parks together, hanging out with friends, or around the table with Davi’s family playing Uno and the family telling Davi he needs to teach Lilly more Portuguese (Obrigada Gabriela e Valdemir. Lilly está aprendendo português por causa de vocês.)

Popping the Question

While on the same men’s retreat as the year before, Davi called Jeff and Jodi to ask for their blessing to marry Lilly. He had been dropping hints to watch a sunrise for awhile, so Lilly remained unsuspecting when he suggested that they watch the sunrise on Monday. He also told Lilly he had made breakfast reservations for the two of them on that same morning, and that he wanted to dress more formally because of this.

Lilly became a little suspicious, but ended up convincing herself that she was over thinking things (as she often does) and had decided this was simply just a normal date.

On April 8th Bruno and Gabi got a head start and left the house at 5:00 AM to set up for the proposal. Lilly had stayed the night in the family’s guest room in order to make leaving for the sunrise easier. This ended up causing a slight panic for Davi when Lilly commented on the fact that Gabi’s car wasn't in the driveway anymore. He quickly played it off saying “she must have left for work” which luckily, Lilly didn't think much of.

Upon arriving at Lakefront Park in Kissimmee, they walked together out to the end of a peninsula towards a lighthouse. Lilly was very distracted by the birds and looking around for any gators. Davi, on the other hand, was very distracted looking for the hidden GoPro camera and drone that had been set up by his siblings.

At the end of the pathway, at exactly 7 AM, Davi asked Lilly to marry him. And Lilly, in shock, happily said “YES!”
